However, the situation took an interesting turn when Coleman revealed that he received an email from Shapiro's office just minutes before the committee meeting, containing some relevant documents. This led to a heated exchange, with Democrats on the committee arguing that Coleman's actions were partisan and that the committee lacked the authority to issue such subpoenas.
Will Simons, a spokesman for Governor Shapiro, labeled Coleman's efforts as "partisan attacks," showing a "clear disregard" for the Governor and his family. Simons explained that the security enhancements were recommended by the Pennsylvania State Police and an independent consultant after an arson attack at the state-owned Governor's Residence in Harrisburg.
The cost of these improvements? Over $1 million, according to records obtained by Spotlight PA. This includes expenses for a new security system and groundskeeping.
